Controversial singer, Speed Darlington has shared how living in the economic capital of Nigeria- Lagos- made him break the bank.
Speed, as he goes by professionally, recounts how he migrated to the US 18 years ago in search of greener pastures and went on to pursue a career in music. Forming ties and bonding over his motherland and its talents, the singer traveled back for “Detty December” in Lagos to support his artiste friend- Zlatan.
After rocking and popping all through the yuletide season at Zlatan’s show, he thought to extend his stay in Nigeria to reconnect with his roots.
Apparently, Lagos wasn’t economically friendly for him as he took to his Instagram page to reveal why he left Nigeria. According to him, he won’t be moving to Lagos if he ever decides to relocate back to Nigeria due to the expensive cost of living.
Speedy buttressed further that he would rather resort to living in Benin or Calabar where life is cheaper, disclosing that living in Calabar would be perfect for him as he can secure a house and a maid for just two million Naira.
He expressed thus:
“Honestly I don’t know what I’m doing in Lagos maybe I should live in Benin City or Calabar where life is much cheaper and I can get to the capital within 10 hours of driving. With 2 million nairas in Calabar, I can have a very nice place with a maid. Six weeks in Lagos I only got two jobs that’s not a lot. I don’t have plans of getting married right now but I want a child, outside Lagos, is my best bet.”
