Parents Should Talk To Their Children About Sex- Mercy Aigbe Urges Nigerian Parents

Mercy advises Nigerian parents to be more open to sex conversations with their children.

Nollywood actor and single mother, Mercy Aigbe returns with her weekly vlog and this episode she dedicates it to parents. The entrepreneur shared personal nuggets on sex education and her reasons for being big on the movement.

Having debuted other episodes where she shared her 2cents on issues on request by her fans, Mercy strikes with this episode as she urges Nigerian parents to be more open and free with sex education.

Speaking about the alarming rate of sexual abuse and domestic violence, Mercy emphasizes the importance of Nigerian parents educating their children about sex. She poses that as long as they can understand and grasp the subject matter, why hesitate in teaching them what they ought to know.

She addresses further that the advent of social media has caused more underage people to be exposed to a lot of information both good and bad. Hence, the urgency for education that comes from the right source.

“At every age children should be acquainted with their body parts and know for themselves. You should teach them that they have a say over their body, They have boundaries,” she said.
“Parents need to let children know that people cannot touch you in certain places and If they do they must come to their parents to let them know. We need to establish a close relationship with our children, be comfortable around your children talking about sex”.

She added that the foundations should be laid down so that they can be guided on the right path early on to avoid unwanted scenarios or mishaps. She went ahead to cite cases of domestic violence and abuse she had witnessed.

Mercy concluded imploring that as parents the responsibility is billed on them to educate and enlighten their kids on sex education and they should not shy away from telling their kids what they need to know.
