Following Lagos state government directive for businesses and markets to shut down due to the Coronavirus outbreak, several Nigerians have been urged to stock up household items. The announcement was specifically for non-essential or live-saving products markets to close for 7 days effective from Thursday, the 25th of March, 2020.
Whilst so many Nigerians have been worried about survival, as many would attribute it to their daily hustle, so many factions have blasted celebrities for not towing the line of celebrities abroad that have contributed to the safety and survival of their people.
Earlier today, Nigerian Singer, Runtown flattened the curve and took the step to help hundreds of Nigeria who can’t afford to stock up on survival essentials due to the market shut down. The singer expressed his understanding of the status of things and encouraged his fans to ensure they heed to the preventive measures outlined.
He also went further to donate 10 million naira to individuals and his fans alike. Though many thought he was joking, credit alert screenshots surfaced and showed that the beneficiaries were gifted 20 thousand naira each.
Runtown shared thus;
“HOPE EVERYONE IS STAYING SAFE. TIMES ARE EXTREMELY TOUGH AND I AM CERTAIN THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH NO MONEY TO STOCK UP ON SURVIVAL ESSENTIALS. WILL BE GIVING OUT 10 MILLION NAIRA TO THIS CAUSE. KINDLY DROP YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS.
NOTE: OBVIOUSLY 10 MILLION NAIRA WOULD NOT GO ROUND, SO IF YOU HAVE OTHER MEANS TO SUSTAIN YOURSELF, RESPECTFULLY DON’T SEND IN YOUR ACCOUNT. PLEASE AND PLEASE ONLY IF YOU LACK, THESE THINGS ARE SPIRITUAL YOU KNOW
In the same stead, some well-meaning Nigerians and celebrities have offered in to help in different capacities. The likes of Toyin Abraham have gone to share bags of rice, hand sanitizers, and cooking items. Don Jazzy also threw in some help for his followers and fans last night.
