In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrities and well-meaning Nigerians swung in full action to offer relief items and cash gifts to cushion the economic effects of the lockdown on Nigerians. The likes of Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu, Runtown, Don Jazzy who contributed their quota have been praised countlessly for their efforts.
Somewhere in the middle of the generous donations, Media personality, Toke Makinwa is getting a major swipe from Tv host, Shade Ladipo after commenting on people “filming receipts of their benevolence”.
Toke Makinwa in her tweets had also told those who insist on filming, to blur the faces of those receiving the gifts because they didn’t ask to be seen on camera.
She shared in a now-deleted tweet thus;
Here’s an appeal not shade, not a call out either, I salute everyone who’s giving out to the less privileged this season, you are not the government and your kindness will be rewarded by God but can we stop filming the recipients of your benevolence?
You can film your acts of kindness for yourselves, your archive or documentation purposes, etc. pls blur out the faces of those receiving them cos they didn’t ask to be seen on camera and you can protect their dignity.
Shade Ladipo addressed Toke reminding her that she once filmed giving her Personal assistant a car last year. The TV host who said that documenting benevolence does more good than bad, disclosed that Toke’s act of kindness in 2019 made her buy her PA a laptop.
No shade but you filmed giving your PA a car which inspired me to give my PA a laptop (we serve different Gods)
In this new world documenting your benevolence IMO does more good than bad honestly but it irks me when I see it again No shade.
