In anticipation of the Easter festivities, some state governors in Nigeria gave a directive of partial lockdown relaxation for citizens to attend to religious obligations. The directive has been met with scrutiny and public criticism from Nigerians as it has been noted as a downplay of initial efforts to curtail the COVID-19 virus.
Social distancing has been largely encouraged in the past weeks and even with the continuous increase in cases amongst states in Nigeria, it appears that the government is still playing ignorance to the reality of things as many have claimed.
Nigerian celebrities are not left out of the battle as after the fiasco with actress Funke Akindele getting arrested, the consciousness has since doubled. On-Air Personality, Dotun has also kicked against the partial relaxation of the lockdown order by some state governors for Christians to celebrate the Easter holiday this weekend.
Taking to his Twitter page, Dotun wrote;
”Even in Israel that we know are Jesus’s guy are doing Passover in their houses… Nigeria, we just no get sense. You are opening churches and mosques. For what? Is Jesus complaining? can’t you do Passover in your house.”
