Police mourns as Atiku reportedly dies in Kano

The Squadron Commander 9 of the Nigerian Police Mobile Force Kano, Atiku Nagodi has reportedly passed away.

Atiku, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police, was said to have died on Monday.

Confirming his death, Superintendent of Police, Supol. Abdullahi Rano, shared the sad news on Facebook.

He wrote, *Innalillahi Wa inna ilaihirrajiun, the death has occurred of ACP Atiku Nagodi of the Nigeria Police Force.

“Until his death this morning (Monday), he was the Squadron Commander 9 Police Mobile Force, PMF, Kano,

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest.”

As at press time, CANDIIDONLINE could not ascertain the cause of the squadron commander’s death.

However, there are deep concerns over a high number of unexplained deaths in Kano, amid fears they could be caused by Covid-19.

Recall that barely 48 hours ago, the Emir of Rano in Kano state, Tafida Abubakar-Ila, had also died.

The death of the monarch occurred at a hospital in Kano almost one year after the Kano State Government created four new Emirate Councils and made Alhaji Abubakar-Ila a first-class traditional ruler.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had signed a bill passed by the Kano State House of Assembly into law on May 8, 2019, thereby creating the Rano, Gaya, Karaye and Bichi emirate councils from the Kano Emirate Council which at the time was led by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Five days later, on May 13, 2019, the governor presented staffs of office to Emir Abubakar-Ila, and the three other Emirs including Ibrahim Abubakar II, Emir of Karaye; Ibrahim Abdulkadir, Emir of Gaya, and Aminu Ado-Bayero, Emir of Bichi.
