Two COVID-19 patients have escaped from the Oyo State isolation centre, Governor Seyi Makinde revealed.
Governor Makinde, made this known while giving update on the management of Coronavirus patients via his Twitter page on Wednesday.
According to him, more positive results had been received out of some are immigrants.
“We have received more results from pending COVID-19 confirmation tests. The result of one suspected case came back POSITIVE. The person is based in Ibadan.
“The results of five suspected cases came back POSITIVE on May 4, 2020. Four of these five cases are immigrants and the last person is an Oyo State resident.
“The results of five suspected cases came back POSITIVE on May 5, 2020. Four of these five cases are travellers from the Northern part of Nigeria and the last one is an Oyo State resident.
“Of the 33 active cases being managed by the state, two have absconded, possibly to their permanent places of residence. This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to 31.
“Ten cases are self-isolating while twenty-one cases are being managed in the isolation centres in Oyo State; one at the University College Hospital, Ibadan & twenty in Olodo. Nineteen of these twenty cases at Olodo are asymptomatic & the last person has anosmia (loss of smell).

According to the current statistics by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 148 cases were reported in the last 24 hours in 17 states wth Lagos having 43 victims, Kano 32, Zamfara 14, FCT 10, Katsina 9, Borno 6, Taraba 7, Ogun 6, Oyo 5, Bauchi 3, Kaduna 3, Edo 3, Gombe 2, Adamawa 2, Sokoto 1, Kebbi 1and Plateau 1.
No new State recorded a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours.
The total number of states including FCT that have reported at least one confirmed case in Nigeria is still 35 (34 states + FCT) and 64 cases were discharged in the last 24 hours in three States.
