Spurs have submitted a bid for Osimhen but it is below Lille’s massive asking price of €85m
Mourinho is however in the market for a new forward this summer to provide competition for Harry Kane.
Tottenham are leading the race to sign the Lille striker as report claims they offered £75m to Lille for the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen who only joined Lille last July from Belgian club Charleroi has been a major target for top English clubs including Man United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool.
But according to a report on Tribal Football, Belgian media sources claim Tottenham are leading the queue of clubs in the battle for Osimhen.
Tottenham have reportedly made a bid for Victor Osimhen but the offer is thought to be much less than the €85m being rumoured, with the high price seen as unobtainable in the current crisis.
Lille have set an initial massive asking price of €85m for the 21-year-old striker but Spurs are hoping to talk that down with manager Jose Mourinho close to LOSC sporting director Luis Campos.
Osimhen who still has four years remaining on his contract, scored 18 goals in all competitions this season. 14 of those goals came in the Ligue 1 before it was cancelled last month.
Victor Osimhen has reportedly become a target for several top European clubs this summer and former Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has urged the Serie A champions to sign the Nigerian striker.
The Super Eagles forward has been on the radar of Premier League Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool as has also been linked with a move to Spain.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele are the only players to have scored more goals than Osimhen in Ligue 1 this season.
With the summer transfer window getting to open soon, former Liverpool midfielder Sissoko believes the Nigerian youngster will soon become a household name in football.
During an interview session with Tuttojuve’s Mirko Di Natale, Sissoko was asked who he would recommend for his former side Juventus to sign and he said:
“I like Victor Osimhen from Lille very much, for me this boy is very strong. He is a striker that we will talk about in the next few years.”
