They reportedly sighted a Sienna bus with registration number MUS 86 FN with occupants who had suspicious looks, but rather than stop for a search, the driver sped off.
A gun battle ensued shortly after, leading to the death of one of the kidnappers.
Two victims identified as Okoroji Agnes, a youth corps member attached to Federal Girls College Sagamu and one Tawa Sosanwo who were kidnapped at various locations, were rescued by the police.
One black toy gun, one gold wrist watch, one Samsung galaxy 87 phone, one cutlass, and one black wrist watch were recovered from the scene.
Similarly, the police in Anambra state have arrested a 31-year-old man, Sunday Eyim, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl in Awka, the state capital on Saturday, July 11.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said Sunday allegedly defiled the minor in his room. He said the men of the Central Police station in Awka were alerted and he was picked up on Monday, July 13.
Haruna said the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, has directed that the case be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a discreet investigation after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
He warned members of the public, particularly parents/guardians, to be watchful, and caution their children against strangers and also encourage them to report any person making sexual advances or harassment on them to enable the parents to take proactive measures.
