A Man Has Gone Viral After Killing Himself Over Rape Allegation

A young Nigerian man identified as Izu Madubueze, based in Florida has killed himself after being accused of rape by a model, NaniChi Anese.

According to narrations shared by Madubueze’s friends on the Twitter platform, Madubueze admitted he wasn’t attracted to her (Nani) after they had sex, an admission she alleged he made only because he was under the influence. Madubueze admitted his actions might have been misconstrued and apologized.

A Twitter user, who was told about the circumstances around the sexual encounter between Izu Madubueze and the woman, contacted him via DM to inform him she was adding him to a list she had compiled of rapists and rape apologists.

Izu Madubueze tried to get the woman in question to remove him from her list and when she refused, He released a public statement apologizing if his actions were misconstrued and days later, news of his death by suicide hit social media.”

In reaction to the news, the hashtag #JusticeforIZU has been trending on Twitter since the news broke, with social media users calling for tough punishment for people who falsely accuse others of rape or sexual harassment.

One Nnamdi Anekwe-Chive wrote; “Just received a very troubling phone call in respect of this young man (Izu Mmadubueze). Izu Mmadubueze is a relation of mine, who lived alone in Florida, USA.

It’s been confirmed that Izu Madubueze from Umueze Anam, Anambra state, apparently committed suicide owing to false accusations of rape by this lady and her friends.”

Nigerian rapper, Balqbonez wrote;“Just saw this Izu Madubueze story, buttresses my point that it’s too dangerous to simply say ‘We believe victims here’, we all need to seek evidence, no one person should have the power to destroy another by just typing an unverified story #justiceForIzu”

In the words of @Volqx:

“I have been falsely accused without anyone supporting me, with everyone I trust against me, False accusations pierce the soul and not everyone can stand the stigma, the instant trauma & pain. False Rape accusers should not go unpunished, it shouldn’t be bants”.#JusticeforIZU

@Oluwafunmilayo wrote;

“Women who falsely accuse men of sexual crimes should have to register as sex offenders and serve a mandatory jail term.

“False rape allegations should be taken seriously too. Nobody should ever suffer from this, it’s becoming too much. #JusticeforIZU”

Obi of Onitsha said; “Accusing someone falsely of rape knowing it would ruin their reputation and everything they’ve worked for including their life is pure evil…

If your best comeback against someone is to accuse them falsely, then you’re weak, wicked, and beyond redemption! #JusticeforIZU”

The recent stories and revelations on rape follow the tragic death of unidentified UNIBEN student Uwa Omozuwa, the alleged rape of Seyitan amongst other victims who have publicly come out to recount their experiences.

Recall that Lawmakers recently amended and passed laws that prescribe stricter punishment for sexual offenders in Nigeria.
