The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Adetona, has called off this year’s edition of the annual Ojude Oba Festival scheduled to hold August 2, 2020.
Consequently, the coordinator of the festival, Chief Fassy Yusuf, signed a statement that contained this information.
Certainly, the coronavirus pandemic caused the cancellation of the festival.
So, the statement reads: “The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Adetona gave approval for the cancellation.
“The decision was in deference to medical advice and as a display of sensitivity to the environment.
“The global festival would have held Sunday, August 2, 2020, two days after Eid-eI-Kabir.
Above all, the first-class monarch wished all ljebu sons and daughters the best of the season.
In the same vein, he enjoined them to adhere to all Covid-19 medical protocol.
In conclusion, the Awujale supplicated to God for an early end of the pandemic.
