An 18-year-old boy has been arrested by men of the Adamawa state police command for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl in Jimeta, Yola, the state capital, on Tuesday, July 28.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who confirmed this to newsmen, said the suspect whose shop is next to that of the victim’s mother, took the victim to one Bekaji Primary School, Jimeta, on the pretext of being a good neighbor and (allegedly) raped her.
According to Nguroje, the mother of the victim noticed the swollen private part of her baby and immediately reported the matter to the police who arrested the suspect.
The spokesperson said the victim is currently receiving treatment in a hospital while the suspect is in police custody and will be charged to court once the investigation has been concluded.
Similarly, Police Operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested 35 suspects across the country for their active involvement and participation in a series of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other heinous crimes.
The arrests were sequels to the unrelenting efforts of the Force to rid the country of heinous criminals and to get justice for victims of crimes.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) DCP Frank Mba, who paraded the Suspects at Force Headquarters, Abuja, said:”amongst the suspects are Udodiri Bright (aka Ability) 30, a native of Osuachara Village, Isiala Mbano LGA of Imo state and three others, Ekwuru Shadrack (aka Escobar) 26, a native of Arondizuogu village in Okigwe LGA of Imo state, Chimerie Igwe( aka 4real )30, a native of Umucheke Village in Orlu LGA of Imo State and Chibuike Sunday, 28, from Arondizuogu of Imo State.
“They were arrested on July 5, for the abduction and killing of a Nigerian US Soldier, Chuks Okebata, who came into Nigeria for the holidays in his home town, Okigwe, Imo State in 2017.”
