Former Nigerian actress, Victoria Inyama, has urged women to dress properly to avoid getting raped.
Over four thousand rape incidents have been reported across the country since the COVID-19 pandemic began in February this year.
The actress via her verified IG page to reveal how obvious the Nigerian government is not ready to fix a penalty for the increasing rape crime.
So, to avoid being a victim, ladies should endeavour to dress properly so they do not “trigger” the perpetrators of rape crimes.
”It’s obvious to me that the Nigerian government is not really ready to put a fixed penalty to Rape. So, l beg my ladies (minus the minors or aged victims) to please dress in appropriate clothing to reduce the trigger for the perpetrators.
“A lot of these Perpetrators have underlying mental health issues & being around them in certain clothing is a trigger. Sadly, the victim still gets to be shamed & ridiculed.
“So, since this government is not ready to do much, it would be wise to safeguard yourself.
Yes, it’s not about the dressing, some will say & compare with Europe & America, but remember they take Rape cases seriously unlike Nigerian. Think about it”
Victoria Inyama began her career In 1990. During an interview, she stated that fellow veteran actor, Alex Usifo saw her and brought her into the Nigerian movie industry.
