Interesting Things About Fireboy DML’s New Album, Apollo

Adedamola Adefolahan popularly known as Fireboy DML is signed to YBNL Nation, an independent record label founded by Nigerian rapper Olamide.

His debut studio album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps was released in 2019.

He won Listener’s Choice and was nominated for Song of the Year for “Jealous” at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.

Here are the interesting things about his new album, ‘Apollo’

1. Adedamola Adefolahan popularly known as Fireboy DML recently dropped the Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps followup, Apollo, featuring a total of 17 tracks.

2. The Nigerian singer-songwriter tagged D Smoke for intro “Champ,” Wande Coal for “Spell” and Olamide for “Afar.”

While production can be heard from previous collaborators such as Pheelz, IamBeatz and P-Prime.

Fireboy DML has cited Jon Bellion, Passenger and Wande Coal as his key contemporary influences.

3. The Afrobeats star describes his brand as that of relatable creations and labeled the album as one about “evolution, growth, love and pain.

4. Fireboy grew up in Abeokuta and was a member of his local church choir. He developed interest in music while studying at Obafemi Awolowo University.

5. His breakthrough single “Jealous” first appeared on YBNL Nation’s collaborative album YBNL Mafia Family (2018), before being re-released on 25 March 2019.
