South Africa’s Master KG owns the song but collaborated with Burna Boy on Jerusalema remix
Consequently, he took to social media to share that Jerusalema remix with Burna Boy has hit a whopping 100 million views on YouTube.
The song also featured songstress Nomcebo Zikode.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Burna Boy is now a global dance sensation. He is keeping the world dancing the Covid-19 blues away.
Master KG and Nomcebo, who the South Africa Department of Arts, Sports, and Culture officially named as its young ambassadors, have flown the South African flag very high with their slapping track.
The excited Limpopo-born Master KG took to Twitter and thanked the world for choosing his song as the unofficial Covid-19 anthem.
“When JESUS says yes nobody can’t. 100 Million views, thank you world, from Master KG & Nomcebo from South Africa.” He wrote.
Jerusalema is a song by South African DJ and record producer Master KG featuring South African vocalist Nomcebo Zikode.
The duo initially released the upbeat gospel-influenced house song on 29 November 2019.
Afterwards, it garnered positive response online, with a music video following on 21 December.
Master KG’s second album of the same title, released in January 2020, later carried it.
They eventually released it on streaming services on 10 July 2020, after it went viral during mid-2020, garnering international reaction due to the #JerusalemaChallenge.
A remix featuring Nigerian singer Burna Boy was released on 19 June 2020, propelling the song onto the US Billboard charts.
The song topped the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart on the issue dated August 15, 2020. It has held the number one position for two weeks.
