Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia a.k.a. 2Baba and his Hypertek Digital record label inked a deal with Sony/ATV, a global leader in music publishing.
Speaking about the huge move, 2Baba stated; “We are super excited about this deal.
“Sony/ATV presents top-level expertise, structure and experience to unlock opportunities on a global scale, and we’re proud to be part of the family”.
The 44-year-old 2baba had earlier signed the music publishing deal which gives Sony/ATV the privilege to manage his songs.
The music publishing company will also ensure he receives all royalties from the back end.
Sony/ATV controls a humongous and diverse catalogue of works by music heavyweights such as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and many more.
So, the new deal between Sony/ATV and 2Baba places Hypertek in prime position to optimally exploit its impressive catalogue.
The catalogue covers works of 2Baba, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Dammy Krane, Rocksteady and more.
2baba is one of the most decorated and successful Afro pop artists in Africa. He is also one of the most bankable performing music artistes in Nigeria.
On 23 June 2020, Idibia was appointed as the new Regional Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNCHR).
He was the first Nigerian to receive this kind of appointment from UNHCR.
